What are oobees?

oobees are personal information displays, the Internet Era's version of the desk clock. They display the time and date, plus the additional information you want, such as News Headlines, Weather Forecasts, and Stock Quotes.

oobees work in every Internet-connected part of your house. Together, they form a silent display network that keeps you up-to-date, always, everywhere.

The oobees in your system will show you the latest information from the sources you choose. Using the oobeeData web service, you'll select from our growing menu:

Connecting your oobees

oobees come with a standard Ethernet cable. Connect one end of the cable to the oobee, and plug the other end into any Ethernet jack that has a live connection to the Internet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do oobees have wireless connections?

Although we are considering adding wireless connectivity in a future product, oobees only have wired Ethernet connections. To use them in a room that has no wall Ethernet jack, you can plug your oobee into another wireless device such as a wireless ethernet bridge or a Sonos whole-house audio system.

Can I use my oobees without the oobeeData subscription service?

No. oobees cannot receive any information without the oobeeData service, not even the current time and date.

I don't want to pay for a subscription.

We chose not to use advertisements to fund the service. At oobeeData, we've made a promise to ourselves to only make products that we would want to use in our own homes. We didn't want to bring more advertisements into our living space, and we're sure you'll feel the same way.
